Vicar Rex Watt

We are privileged to have Deacon Rex Watt serve as our full-time shepherd here at Redeemer Lutheran Church.  He began this role in February 2019.  He has been a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1998 and over those years has served in a variety of roles: Youth Sunday school teacher, treasurer, elder, adult Bible class teacher and most recently Congregation chairman.  Self-identified as a “recovering Evangelical” he began taking Mission Training Center classes “just to understand how Lutherans think theologically” and one class led to another until all ten were completed.  At the encouragement of our previous pastor, Rev. Daniel Haugen, he applied for and was granted Deacon status by the Northwest District.  Under Pastor Haugen’s mentorship he taught Adult new members classes and occasionally provided pulpit supply.  Deacon Watt has entered the Specific Ministry Pastor program at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and begins coursework in the Fall semester, 2019 which will lead to ordination.  He is married to his “most marvelous Bride” Dee, and between them they have 25 grandchildren.  Lord have mercy!

On August 23, 2019 Deacon Watt received his certificate of Vicarage Assignment as ministerial vicar to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bellingham WA.  On Sunday, September 8, 2019 we had the privilege of witnessing the Induction of Vicar Rex E. Watt by Pastor Dennis Wildermuth.

Reverend Dennis Wildermuth

We are also privileged to have Rev. Dennis Wildermuth serve as Pastoral Supervisor for Deacon Watt here at Redeemer.  Pastor Wildermuth is a 1972 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri and has served our sister congregation, Grace Lutheran Church in Blaine for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2012.  Pastor Wildermuth regularly presides over services on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month providing the people of Redeemer with Word and Sacrament ministry, and will be our Deacon’s personal mentor until his ordination.
